Fair's & Festivals

The main religious festivals in India are Diwali, Holi, Gangaur, Teej, The Kite Festival & many more. There are many others like animal fairs, religious fairs and fairs to mark the changing seasons. We also have the fantastic, recently established festivals, especially organised for tourists involving elephants, camel races, dance and music. Some of the best known fairs of Hadoti Region are:

Bundi (Jul-Aug)

A dazzlingly theatrical and lively event, it is held every year in the month of Bhadra (July-August). This two week-long celebration is filled with gaiety and fanfare and pays homage to Goddess Uma by the seekers of marital bliss and love.

Bundi (Nov-Dec)

An enchanting Blue city that comes alive with music and dance. It is fast gaining popularity as the visitor finds an opportunity to see some unusual folk artist performances, camel racing, tug of war, and traditional dance, witness a spectacular show of fireworks.

Chandrabhaga Fair, Jhalawar (Nov-Dec)

A vibrant animal fair that gives visitors the opportunity to participate in local sports as well to enjoy ancient Chandrabhaga temples on river shore. This fair is held in the auspicious day of “kartik purnima”- full moon night, when thousands of pilgrims take a dip in the water. A largest cattle fair of Rajasthan is held and livestocks like buffaloes, cows, camels, horses and bullock are sale and purchase, visitors are left charmed by its magnificence.

Dussehra Festival, Kota(Oct-Nov)

Dussehra is a Hindu festival celebrated all over the country. As the name suggests, it is the ‘Tenth Day’ of the fierce battle fought; when Lord Rama killed King Ravana. This holy day marks the victory of good over evil. The Dussehra Festival of Kota is quite a unique experience for both the residents and tourists for two weeks. These 75-feet tall statues are stuffed with crackers and once set on fire, they burst to create an extravagant show.

Adventure Festival, Kota (Oct)

Kota Adventure Festival is held every year during Dusserha (October). Originally started off to boost tourism, this festival is a paradise for adventure-sports lovers. Tourists from across the world can witness various events such parasailing, rafting, wind surfing, water skiing and kayaking. Apart from these activities, visitors can also indulge in rock climbing, gliding, trekking, angling and rural excursions.

Fairs & Festivals Keshori Ptatan Fair, Bundi (Nov-Dec)

This is one of the most popular festivals in Rajasthan. The celebrations start on “Kartik Purnima” - Full Moon Night, when many devotees take a dip in the holy Chambal river. It is a journey into the heart of the Holy Town.

Fairs & Festivals Dol Festival, Baran ( Aug- Sept)

During Jaljhulni Akadshi, it is time for Dol Mela at Dol Talab (Pond) in Baran which goes on for a fortnight! You will love to witness the procession which have about 54 holy statue carriers or 'dol' from the main temples in Baran. Akhadas show their prowess in physical exercises during the procession. This serves to perpetuate feeling of communal harmony among denizens of Baran.

Fairs & Festivals Sita Bari Fair, Baran ( Sept-Oct)

This big Tribal fair organized about 45 kms. from the Baran city, near Kelwara. People love to take a holy dip in the pond which have a mythical connection to Sita, Laxman, Surya, Lav and Kush from Ramayana. Sahariya tribe in Baran, this fair is nothing less than the 'Kumbh mela' one of the largest gatherings of world. Marriages in Sahariya tribes is organized during this fair and how! The boy drops a handkerchief to propose the girl. If the girl accepts the handkerchief, both are married after 7 rounds around Barnawa tree and blessings from parents .
